Positive Simracing’s Tim Delisle returned to winning ways in the Oceanic Sim Racing Formula 3 Championship at Belle Isle. More remarkable than his pace was the consistency and composure to hold off the challenge from Shane Van Gisbergen, who would eventually finish 7s behind in 2nd place.
As the penultimate race of the 12 round championship, much attention was further in the field with the championship battle between Adam Briggs and Cameron Dance. Briggs of DPR Racing led the points going into round over Dance’s TTL Esports entry, and kept it so by taking the last spot on the podium. Fourth place for Dance keeps him in mathematical contention but let the gap increase slightly.
Factoring in the 2 drop weeks allowed in the series, heading into the final round at Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca the points are as follows:
Adam Briggs – 2542pts
Cameron Dance – 2471pts
Alex McKellar – 2325pts
With 300 points up for grabs for a win, anything is still possible. However for McKellar to become champion would require neither Briggs or Dance to complete 50% race distance and be scored as finishing. Dance likewise needs a 71 point swing that would necessitate either a DNF from Briggs, or Dance to win with Briggs no higher than 20th position.
