In a game where inches can make a lot of difference, that is what we found at the 6 Hours of Spa. An unfortunate bobble in qualifying put us on the back foot, and we were not able to recover, starting the race in 23rd place. However as close as the field was, we were only a quarter of a second away from P8 on the grid, such is the competition at World Championship level.

The race would be gruelling, and with the setup that we had with the car, it became quite evident that the car had fallen outside of the window, such is the sensitive nature of this year’s Audi. We had an encouraging start moving up to 16th place by the two hour mark, but as the track evolved our car seemed to get worse relative to the field, and we began to slip down the order. A last ditch effort to steal some positions with a no-tyre strategy would prove a non-event, as new tyres would still prove to be the quicker strategy in the end.

With two rounds remaining, we sit in the 25th position in the championship, which is right on the bubble for retaining our world championship status for 2019. Since becoming Altus Esports, this has been our goal and we have steadily moved forward towards this. This is far from safe however, and strong finishes will be required to maintain this Top 25 position.

Stay tuned for the next round with 4 hours at Suzuka, on August 4th. Big thanks again to Motum Simulation for their support of the team.
